Mary Rockwood Lane, PhD, RN, FAAN, is an Associate Professor at College of Nursing, University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville where she teaches Creativity and Spirituality in Health Care. Mary co-founded the Shands Arts in Medicine program at UF which incorporates art, music, poetry, theater, and dance into medical care. She developed and directed this nationally-recognized program for over 15 years. She also participated in founding the Center for Spirituality in Health at UF.

Mary is currently developing an end of life curriculum that fully integrates spirituality and creativity to be taught at all UF health science colleges. She continues to work tirelessly to promote her vision for a more creative and transformative medical practice. Mary travels to countries across the globe, giving lectures and workshops on art, spirituality and healing.   Dr. Lane received her BSN from the University of Florida, MSN from Boston College, and PhD from the University of Florida.
